Eight people were arrested for unlawful assembly in Teck Whye on Nov 7.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance at Block 165A Teck Whye Crescent at about 2.15am.

Seven of the suspects were male, aged between 15 and 25, and the eighth was a 20-year-old woman.

No injuries were reported and police investigations are ongoing.

On Nov 15, one of the men, Singaporean Huang Wenxiang, 22, was charged in court with being a member of an unlawful assembly armed with a deadly weapon - specifically, a katana - to cause hurt to an opposing group.

Also named in the charge were Cherys Lim Ying Tong, 20, and Edmund Teo Yu Feng, 25, who were members of the unlawful assembly with Huang.

Lim and Teo were charged earlier on Nov 11.

Also charged earlier were the five members of the other group: Aaron Simon Paul, 23; Muhammad Alfata Bin Alwi, 21; Jayden O'hara Low Ming Xuan, 21; Neo Kai-Iann, 20; and the 15-year-old who cannot be named because of his age.

They are accused of being armed with a parang and wooden poles.

The offence of being armed with anything that is likely to cause death when used as a weapon in an unlawful assembly carries an imprisonment term of up to five years, a fine, caning or with any combination of such punishments.

Huang was also under a remission order at the time of the alleged offence.

If convicted, he will be deemed to have breached the remission order and is liable to be punished with an enhanced sentence of an imprisonment term not exceeding the remaining duration of the remission order of 33 days from Nov 7 to Dec 9.
