An Indonesian woman's post about dating someone with the world's most powerful passport has gone viral, with netizens chiming in about their problems with something quite alien to Singaporeans: applying for visas.

TikToker @newwz9, who discussed her relationship with her Singaporean boyfriend, posted a video on Jan 21 with the title "flirted a little bit too hard, now my weak passport is his problem".

The 11-second clip shows the couple, who met while travelling, strolling near Marina Bay Sands with the caption "I have to apply (for) my visa for some countries. Meanwhile, he's holding the strongest passport in the world now".

Singapore's passport is ranked first on the Henley Passport Index, said to be an authoritative ranking of all the world's passports, while Indonesia's is ranked 64th.

The post has so far garnered 1.3 million views, 79,700, reactions and 727 comments.

'My Singaporean husband will be like, 'what is a visa?''

Those married to Singaporeans commented on the post with their own passport problems. "My Singaporean husband will be like, 'what is a visa?' every time we plan to travel," said one.

Another said: "My husband always questioning this: why need to apply visa?", to which newwz9 replied: "This is relatable! hahaha. I once told him I have to submit my bank statements from the last few months to apply for a visa and he was like, 'huh? for what?'"

Some Singaporeans, including one who travelled with a friend from Mexico for the first time to Bali, shared their experience of travelling with foreigners. "Culture shock moment for me (I don't have many foreign friends) when I strolled past immigration and ended up waiting half a day for her to get her visa on arrival approved." .

Another remarked: "Only when you travel often do you become aware of how strong your Singaporean passport is."

Others pointed out that a strong passport is pointless if it is not coupled with the means to travel. "A powerful passport does not mean anything without an extra full bank account," said one TikToker.

'OMG THE PROBLEM THAT I WANT'

Non-Singaporean commenters said they wished they had the same problem as the original poster. "Hope this kind of problem find me", said one, while another exclaimed: "OMG THE PROBLEM THAT I WANT."

One netizen claimed that Southeast Asians are no longer looking for "US or European passport husbands" anymore. "They prefer Asians with Asian passports and wealth now. More similar in culture and are more handsome than the usual western passport bros."
