Football fans win praise for ‘small but selfless act’ of picking up litter after S’pore-Bangladesh match
A pair of attendees of the football match between Singapore and Bangladesh on March 31 has earned praised for picking up litter after the game.
Singapore’s men’s national football team sealed the game with a 1-0 victory, following a historic win against Hong Kong in November 2025 that secured their qualification for the Asian Cup.
On April 1, 20-year-old ambulance driver Dylan Tan posted a 10-second clip of what he called a “small but selfless act”, showing two men picking up litter from the stands at the National Stadium.
Mr Tan told Stomp that he was watching the match with his brother, father, and friend. After the match ended, posters and free gifts given to attendees littered the floor.
In the video, one of the men, dressed in a black striped shirt, bends down to retrieve a flyer from the floor. He can be seen holding several more in the other hand as he picks up another flyer that had fallen in between the seats.
Towards the end of the video, the camera pans to another man in red, who is also seen holding a handful of flyers.
“It didn’t go unnoticed. A small but selfless act,” Mr Tan wrote in the caption.
The video, which was uploaded twice, received over 9,000 views in total, winning praise from commenters.
“Beyond the enthusiasm and spirit of football, it’s fans like these who make a difference and make the sport enjoyable for everyone,” Mr Tan told Stomp, adding that he and his family chipped in to clean up the area as well.
“I posted this as I thought it deserved some recognition, for fans of Singapore and Bangladesh,” he concluded.
