First CAD director Glenn Knight dies at age 80
Former star deputy public prosecutor Glenn Knight, who was the first director of the Commercial Affairs Department, died on the morning of Feb 19.
He was 80.
The Straits Times reported that Mr Knight died while returning from Australia on a Scoot flight.
The local police were alerted to a possible case of death on board Flight TR21 at about 12.40am on Feb 19.
A spokesperson added that police officers boarded the aircraft after it landed in Singapore at 3am and found an 80-year-old man motionless in a seat.
A medical doctor pronounced him dead at the scene. No foul play is suspected.
Mr Knight was in 1984 involved in setting up CAD.
He had by then spent years prosecuting high-profile criminal cases such as the 1981 Toa Payoh murder case involving self-proclaimed medium Adrian Lim.
Mr Knight lost his post as director in 1991, when he was convicted of commercial crimes.
He was disbarred from legal practice in 1994.
Four years later, Mr Knight was convicted for misappropriating CAD funds during his stint as director.
In 2007, Mr Knight became the sixth lawyer to be reinstated as an advocate and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
His friend Ariffin Sha told The New Paper that Mr Knight's wake will be held at Crystal Hall, Level 4 of Singapore Casket at 131 Lavender Street.
The wake will take place from 11am on Feb 20 until Feb 23.
The cortège will leave at 10.40am on Feb 23 for Mandai Crematorium Hall 3 and the cremation will take place at 11.40am.

Mr Knight's wife Pathmavali Rengayah died some years ago. The couple did not have any children.
