A driver lost control of his bus and veered onto the pavement at Outram Road. The vehicle crashed into two trees before coming to a stop.

The accident occurred at about 2pm on March 12 at the left-turn lane from Outram Road onto Eu Tong Sen Street, near Exit 3 of Outram Park MRT Station.

Footage circulating on social media shows the bus mounting the kerb, flattening bushes as it crashes into two trees before coming to a stop.

The bus, whose windscreen and rear were badly damaged, was believed to be carrying over 40 passengers at the time of the incident.

The 62-year-old male bus driver was unconscious when taken to hospital, where he later died.

A 47-year-old passenger, who was conscious, was taken to hospital.

The police said a lorry was involved in the incident - it could have rear-ended the bus in trying to avoid a collision.
