Driver of black SUV in two-car fire on PIE helping police in investigations
A 39-year-old man is assisting with investigations, said the police late on April 28, after the car he was driving collided with another on the PIE and led to both cars catching fire.
The police said they were alerted at 7.15am on April 28 to the accident involving two cars heading in the direction of Changi Airport on the expressway.
A 33-year-old female driver suffered minor injuries but refused to be taken to hospital, said the police.
Visuals circulating online show two cars bumper to bumper on the extreme right lane of the PIE. Flames are engulfing the rear of a white saloon as well as the front of a black sport utility vehicle, which is in contact with the other car.
Later images, after the fire has been put out, show only the shells of both burnt-out cars, with police and Singapore Civil Defence Force vehicles alongside them.
The man assisting the police in their probe is the driver of the black SUV.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing, said the SCDF.
