The daughter of former Singaporean and ex-Internal Security Act (ISA) detainee Zulfikar Mohamad Shariff has died in a car accident in Australia.

In a Facebook post on Dec 9, Zulfikar announced that Sayyida Nafeesa Zulfikar was "invited to return to Allah" at 7.45am Melbourne time on Dec 9.

The father of three wrote that she was on her way to work at Islamic college MyCollege, where she was an admin officer, when she got into a car accident and died at the scene.

"She passed on the way to perform her ibadah (Arabic term for worship)," he said.

'Deeply caring and loving'

Zulfikar described his daughter as "deeply caring and loving", adding that anyone who knew her would attest to her pure and sincere heart.

"She will go out of her way to help anyone in need," he said of the "smart, modest, and respectful girl".

In a subsequent post on the same day, Zulfikar shared a live report from 9 News Melbourne detailing a freak accident on the Hume Highway, in which a 21-year-old driver died after a falling pole crushed the roof of her car.

As the report did not disclose any names, it is unclear whether Zulfikar's daughter was the driver who died in the accident.

Stomp has reached out to Zulfikar for comment.

Police recently ordered TikTok and Meta to restrict and disable his social media accounts for posting content that fuels racial and religious tensions in Singapore.
