Cyclist injured in Bedok accident, motorist to be charged with driving without due care causing grievous hurt
A 57-year-old male car driver was making a right turn at Bedok North Road when he hit a cyclist on Jan 17.
The cyclist was grievously injured.

The driver is among seven motorists to be charged on Nov 19 with driving without reasonable consideration causing grievous hurt.
Another motorist is a 52-year-old man who was driving along the service road of Block 516A Woodlands Drive 4 when he made a right turn and collided with a motorcyclist on April 17. The driver was previously convicted in court in 2001 for the same offence.
Also to be charged is a 43-year-old man who made a right turn at Ghim Moh Link and hit a pedestrian crossing the road on a green light on Jan 18.
So too a 45-year-old woman who was making a left turn at Ang Mo Kio Street 43 when her car collided with a cyclist on Nov 20, 2024.
In another case, a 68-year-old man driving a car at Hougang Avenue 10 hit a motorcycle while making a right turn on Aug 28, 2024.
Facing an additional charge will be a 63-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman.
He was making a lane change to the right when he collided with a motorcycle on Bukit Timah Expressway on July 18, 2025. The motorcyclist had minor injuries, but the pillion rider was grievously hurt.
The woman was riding her motorcycle along Tampines Central 8 when she collided with a cyclist while making a right turn on 26 May, 2025.
Both of them will be charged with driving without reasonable consideration causing grievous hurt as well as driving without reasonable consideration causing hurt.
The offence of driving without due care or reasonable consideration causing grievous hurt carries a fine of up to $5,000, a jail term of up to two years, or both.
In the case of a second or subsequent conviction, motorists are liable to a fine of up to $10,000, a jail term of up to four years, or both.
Driving without due care or reasonable consideration causing hurt carries a fine of up to $2,500, a jail term of up to 12 months, or both.
For both charges, offenders may face disqualification from driving all classes of vehicles.
