Cyclist, 61, dies in Tampines crash after dropping grandchild off at school
A 61-year-old cyclist died after being hit by a car in Tampines while cycling home from dropping his grandchild off at school.
The accident happened around 7.43am on Feb 10 along Tampines Avenue 9 towards Tampines Avenue 2, near Sun Plaza Park.
The driver, a 47-year-old man, was arrested for negligent driving causing grievous hurt.
A friend of the victim's family shared photos of the accident scene on social media, appealing for witnesses or video footage of the incident to help with investigations.
A close friend of the victim told Shin Min Daily News that he was following his usual morning routine when the tragic accident occurred.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed they received a call at 7.45am and conveyed the injured cyclist to Changi General Hospital. He was unconscious and later died from his injuries.
Police investigations are ongoing.
