'Burr Doke?' Caucasian woman's struggle to pronounce 'Bedok' tickles TikTok
A Caucasian woman's attempt to pronounce "Bedok" has gone viral on TikTok, and her pronunciation guesses are cracking people up.
The clip, posted by @jenniferleetravelwithme with the caption, "Help! How do I pronounce BEDOK?!", has garnered over 14,000 views and more than 200 comments, with netizens jumping in to offer tips on the correct pronunciation.
'Bad-Dog?'
In the clip, Jennifer admits people have been "roasting" her in the comments for butchering the name.
"Rightfully so," she laughs. "What do you expect from an Ang Moh? The only thing I know at this point of time is it's not 'Bed-Dock'."
She then shared some of the creative suggestions she received, including "Bad-Dog", "Bed-Okay", "Bay-Doke", and "Beh-Doke".
"Help!" she said at the end of the video.
'Burr-Doke'
Many netizens took to the comments to offer the TikToker pronunciation tips.
Several suggested "Burr-Doke", with one explaining: "Ber as 'the', dok as 'yoke'".
Another wrote: "Buh-d-oak".
Some also quipped that she should try pronouncing the word "Tampines" next.
