Australian woman, 51, allegedly stole $507.30 anti-ageing supplement from Guardian at Changi Airport
A 51-year-old Australian woman was arrested for her suspected involvement in a case of shop theft in the transit area of Changi Airport.
The police said they were alerted to the shop theft on May 7 at about 2.45pm, in which a box of supplements worth $507.30 was discovered missing from the display shelf of a Guardian outlet at Terminal 1.
With the aid of images from CCTV cameras, officers from Airport Police Division established the woman's identity. She was seen allegedly leaving the outlet with the unpaid item on April 14, but had already departed from Singapore.
The woman returned to Singapore on Nov 2 and was arrested while in transit for another flight at Changi Airport.
She will be charged in court on Nov 12 with the offence of theft in dwelling, which carries a jail term of up to seven years, a fine, or both.
The police said they take a serious view of shop theft cases and offenders will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law.
They added: "The police will continue to work closely with stakeholders and the community to prevent and deter cases of shop theft."
