3 women arrested for vice-related activities among those nabbed in clampdown on crime in Geylang

Three women were arrested in anti-vice operations at Geylang Road, Upper Boon Keng Road and Geylang Lorongs in September.

Aged between 36 and 39, they were arrested for their involvement in managing a place of assignation.

Under the Women's Charter, a "place of assignation" is defined any place where communication is established with any woman or girl, either directly or through an intermediary, for any immoral purpose.

The arrests were part of a series of enforcement operations conducted by multiple agencies in the vicinity of Geylang from Sept 18 and 28.

A total of 16 men and six women, aged between 16 and 64, are being investigated for various offences.

The operations were part of ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal and criminal activities, which include illegal gambling, vice activities, illegal sales of health products, drug-related activities, illegal hawking and breach of fire safety regulations.

Between Sept 18 and 26, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Bedok Police Division, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and Singapore Civil Defence Force conducted a series of checks at various massage establishments and hotels.

A 41-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman were found to be operating an illegal massage
establishment at Upper Boon Keng Road and are being investigated.

Three men and one woman, age between 30 and 52, were arrested separately for offences under the Immigration Act, Prisons Act and Penal Code.

On Sept 18, officers from Bedok Police Division and ICA conducted an enforcement operation against illegal online gambling activities at a residential unit located along Lorong 39 Geylang.

Six men and one woman, aged between 49 and 64, were arrested under Gambling Control Act. One of the men was also arrested for drug-related offences.

Cash amounting to more than $550 and gambling-related paraphernalia were seized.

On Sept 15, the Land Transport Authority targeted illegally modified mobility devices at Geylang Road, Sims Avenue and Guillemard Road.

Three male mobility device users, age between 16 and 63, are being investigated for failing to register an e-bike, riding on a pedestrian-only path and riding a non-compliant device.

Enforcement operations targeting illegally modified PMDs and PABs on Sept 19

Between Sept 19 and 25, a series of joint enforcement operations conducted by officers from the Bedok Police Division, Health Sciences Authority, ICA, and CNB targeted the illegal sale of health products, drug and e-vaporiser related activities.

A 33-year-old man is being investigated for a vape-related offence while a 42-year-old man was fined on the spot for possessing an e-vaporiser. Both are being investigated for the supplying of unregistered health products.

On Sept 25, Singapore Customs conducted enforcement operation against duty-unpaid cigarettes activities in Geylang, Paya Lebar Square and Geylang Serai.

A 35-year-old man was arrested while six other men, aged between 28 and 46, were issued with composition sums for offences under the Customs Act.
