2 men allegedly assault couple with baton during dispute in Geylang
Two men, aged 38 and 39, will be charged in court on Nov 13 after they allegedly assaulted a couple along Lorong 24 Geylang.
The police said they received calls for assistance on Nov 11 at about 6.50pm.
They added: "Preliminary investigations revealed that the two men and a couple, who were all known to each other, purportedly got into a dispute and the men allegedly assaulted the couple with a baton."
The couple sustained injuries and were sent to hospital.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division and Police Operations Command Centre established the identities of the men and arrested them within four hours.
The men will be charged with the offence of voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon with common intention, which carries up to seven years in jail, a fine, caning, or a combination of such punishments.
The police said they have zero tolerance for such brazen acts of violence and blatant disregard the law, adding: "We will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and will deal with them sternly in accordance with the law."
