Two Jurong West school canteens burglarised in one morning, teen and man arrested

A 19-year-old teen and a 22-year-old man were arrested for housebreaking and theft at two school canteens in Jurong West.

The police were alerted to the first case on Nov 17 at about 8.05am at Jurong West Street 72, where $70 cash and a mobile phone were purportedly stolen.

The only school at Jurong West Street 72 is West Grove Primary School.

A second similar case was reported at about 8.25am at Jurong West Street 41. No valuables were reported missing.

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and CCTV, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the two male suspects and arrested them within 11 hours of the reports.

Both will be charged in court on Nov 19 with housebreaking with common intention, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.
