Two vehicles were caught in a morning inferno on a flyover along the PIE on April 28, causing momentary traffic congestion.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted at about 7.20am to a fire along the PIE towards Changi Airport, after the Paya Lebar Road exit.

The fire involved two cars.

The SCDF said its rescuers extinguished the fire involving the two cars using a water jet and a compressed air foam backpack.

One person was assessed for minor injuries but declined to be sent to hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported.

In visuals circulated online, the back of a white car and the front of a black sport utility vehicle - with both vehicles visibly in contact in the same lane - can be seen on fire.

Other images presumably recorded later show the fire on the two vehicles put out, with police and SCDF vehicles at the site alongside the damaged cars.

Some travellers on their morning commute said they were stuck in traffic, with vehicles steering clear of the lane the two cars were in.

The Land Transport Authority posted on X after 7.30am that there was congestion on the PIE towards Changi until Kallang and later Kim Keat Link because of the accident on the PIE.
