Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.

Behind closed doors, family conflicts often run deeper than outsiders realise.

Stomper L shared his painful family situation with Stomp.

He alleges that his mother has been controlling the household through finances, including taking his father's Central Provident Fund (CPF) money, while insisting she is the one 'providing' for the family.

He said his mother has not worked for nearly a decade despite being healthy.

According to him, much of the spending goes to daily deliveries and bills, which are then cited as proof of her contribution.

"She tortures me and my dad daily by shouting and making noise when she does zero to contribute financially," he said.

"It makes me very confused on whether to report her to the authorities or not or to tell on her to my dad because she's not financially independent and it could make things worse by giving her jail time and a fine.

"She simply refuses to go to work despite being healthy and physically fine and keeps stealing my dad's money.

"She spends it on Grab almost every day and complains about others when she herself is flawed.

"She even accused me of eating free food and picks on me about how she paid for my piano lessons 10 years ago.

"She verbally abuses me due to my sexual orientation to the point that I'm mentally tired.

"She even tried to kick me out of the house after finding out about my sexual orientation when I was under 21 and tries to use it against me every chance she gets."
