Welcome to Stomping Ground - a space where Stompers share reflections, personal essays and social commentaries that spark conversation and insight.

Can outside meals ever be convenient, affordable and healthy all at once?

Stomper David is disappointed in the low quality of some of his meals, noting that they are salty, greasy and expensive.

"I had curry rice from Encik Tan at SingPost Centre for $5.50," he said. "The chicken was over-fried and the meat slices were so thin with thick batter. Too much oil was used. The sunny side-up was a failure and the vegetable portion was reduced by 25%."

The Stomper felt that one could get a similar dish at a food court for "the same price but better value".

He also took issue with a takeaway bento he bought from Don Don Donki at Northpoint City.

"After consuming it, I drank one litre of plain water to quench my thirst," he added. "I wonder what spices or sauce caused the dehydration!"
