# Tengah resident who complained about pickleball noise 3 times says thanks for ‘foam-balls-only’ trial

A Tengah resident who repeatedly provided feedback about pickleball noise in his estate has expressed gratitude for the implementation of new measures.

Stomper Anon shared a notice instructing the strict use of only foam balls for pickleball games at a multi-purpose court at Block 119A Plantation Crescent.

The notice, put up by Chua Chu Kang Town Council (CCKTC), informed residents about the six-month trial starting on Oct 1. It also stated that the facility is open from 9.30am to 8pm daily, after which the court lights will be “turned off promptly”.

## Will the foam-ball trial become a permanent measure?

In response to Stomp’s queries, a CCKTC spokesperson confirmed on Oct 22 that the ‘Use Foam Balls Only’ trial is currently conducted only at the court near Block 119A Plantation Crescent.

“Our team is carefully monitoring the situation during the trial period,” said the spokesperson.

CCKTC will assess the trial’s effectiveness in reducing noise and will gather feedback from residents.

The spokesperson added: “Following the trial period, we will evaluate its impact to decide whether to continue allowing the use of foam balls only, or to explore other measures as we balance the needs of the court users and residents living nearby.”

The town council sought residents’ understanding and cooperation to “maintain a pleasant living environment for all”.

Anon attributed the trial to his previous Stomp reports about pickleball noise, which he has been documenting for over a year:

- Tengah resident complains about pickleball noise for 3rd time, slams measures and lack of improvement after a year
- Stomper calls for more HDB estates to restrict or ban pickleball
- Tengah resident wants pickleball players with ‘no common sense’ to scram from multi-purpose court

Anon told Stomp: “The new rules came after Stomp’s post. Thank you.”

Asked if there has been any improvement in noise levels, Anon said the court has quieted down due to the recent haze. He will share updates in a month’s time.
