Ismadi's Rocket Boy fires another

The Ismadi Ismail-trained Rocket Boy motored home to claim the RM26,000 (S$7,800) Cosmo C (1,100m) race in Ipoh on April 26.
After a winning debut in the Enrich Stakes A race (1,200m) on Feb 22, the Capitalist four-year-old ran a closing fourth to stablemate Vincent's Star at his second start in a similar race on March 30.
Ridden by regular partner How Yang, Rocket Boy ($8) came from midfield to edge past leader Heart Of Fire (Andre da Silva) with less than 50m to go before winning by half a length. Fast And Fearless (Rueven Ravindra) was third.
It was the Lau Teik Kip-owned gelding's second win in three starts for Ismadi. The Ipoh-based trainer was pleased with his win and revealed plans to run Rocket Boy in Penang's Farewell Trophy (1,300m) in five weeks' time.
"I knew from the start he's got ability, and he is down in class today, so I was very sure he could win," he said.
"He was supposed to run in an Enrich Stakes A race today, but there were not enough runners.
"I wanted him to sit in second or third, but they ended up further behind. Luckily, the boy took him to the outside in the straight.
"Last 200m, I knew he could run past the leader. I think he can run up to 1,300 or 1,400m at most.
"I plan to send him, Vincent's Star and Quicken Away to run in the Community Shield two weeks later, and then the Farewell Trophy in Penang end of May."
The 161-year-old Penang Turf Club is set to close and will stage the Farewell Trophy at their final meeting on May 31.
Inaugurated in 2024, the Perak Turf Club Community Shield Race (1,200m) was captured by Ismadi's Quicken Away then, and will be run on May 11 this year.
Two other Cosmo C races were held at the 10-race meeting. Lim Hoon Seng's Storm Eighty-Three ($42) bounced back to his best in the RM26,000 Cosmo C (1,100m) event in Race 9 under Haris Pauzi.
Formerly known as Arya Pakuan at Kranji, the Kevin Coetzee-trained Man Of Action ($15) beat Ismadi's Leong Ma Biscuit to take out the RM26,000 Cosmo C contest (1,400m) in the last race.
