Feb 13 South Africa (Turffontein) form guide
Race 1 (1,000m)
(8) DESERT CLOUD has run two good races in a row and rates the form choice. May need longer on pedigree but can open her account.
(2) PANTHERA UNCIA was only a length behind Desert Cloud in their last meeting. Should be there.
However, (3) CHILLI MARMALADE was not far off her the time they met and she looks a threat having drawn better.
(1) ENDIZAYO has shown some potential and ran in a fair race last time. But she races after a rest and has drawn a bit wide. First timers in the hunt to consider.
Race 2 (1,000m)
(1) PIBE DE ORO has not enjoyed going over ground. He has run against top horses including Greaterix, Proceed, Lead The Charge to name a few, and will be better suited by a sprint.
(2) IT'S PERSONAL was not far off star colt Cosmic Speed either. He may have also improved during a lengthy break and is one to watch out for.
(4) OLD FASHIONED jumped at 100-1 last time but ran a nice race.
(9) TANA MAREE is a promising older runner that should be able to run a nice race.
Race 3 (2,000m)
Recent maiden winners Immediate Edge, Beynac and Casus Belli won well enough to suggest they could all make decent handicap debuts
(6) IMMEDIATE EDGE has gate one. Will get the extra on pedigree.
(7) CASUS BELLI is proven over the trip but is meeting a fair bit better than he met in the maidens.
(4) BEYNAC has over-raced previously but won by a street last time. The race can be run to suit again.
(5) HIGH QUEUE is holding form but is returning from breaks and could just need it.
Race 4 (2,000m)
(4) ONE RELIGION is holding form nicely and looks the one to beat. She is two from two over the course and distance.
(3) FETCHING FLYER has the same claim to fame and even though a bit disappointing in her last two starts, she must not be discounted.
(7) TODOQUE has hit her straps at her last two outings at the Vaal. She reverts to Turffontein but can still hold her own in this.
(1) DONNA MO is capable of a lot better. She should relish being over a more suitable distance.
Race 5 (1,600m)
(1) TINTAMARRE was not far off in a strong field and should enjoy the drop in class.
(8) CARNELO ran a decent race in a stronger heat last time and could show the strength of that form.
(3) OMBUDSMAN ran a fair race last week. Can go for the win.
(2) FUTUREWOLFF ran away with the win last time. Best of the draws and 2.5kg claim help.
Race 6 (1,200m)
(7) FOREVERINMYDREAMS won impressively when backed over 1,000m last time. However, this is a tough race.
(4) SORCERESS SUPREME won easily over this distance in her second-last start. She has drawn well.
(3) CHROME TOURMALINE makes it a strong contest.
(1) JUST BE LEKKER has produced some excellent runs over this trip and 1,450m and has accordingly been given a high rating.
Race 7 (1,200m)
(4) GREEN SAPPHIRE has been coming in leaps and bounds and has won two in a row. She could be up to it.
(5) FASTNET FILLY has run second in two starts since she won two in a row. Should be ready to score again.
(3) RIDE ON has decent form but has drawn a bit wide and is returning after a layoff.
(1) ALESIA'S LOVE could be in the fight for prize money.
Race 8 (1,200m)
(2) ILHA DA ORANGE has a 4kg claim and a plum gate, so could offer value.
(7) ODE TO THE OCEAN has given signs she could be in the firing line soon.
(5) HEIRLOOM was not beaten far recently. Could be in the right race.
(1) MY ONE AND ONLY could prefer the extra now but has drawn wide.
