'You have a very good figure': Woman says Geylang neighbour kissed her, dragged her to his bed
A woman was allegedly molested by her neighbour in his dormitory room.
Ms Zhang, 38, from Shandong, China, arrived in Singapore on February 11 and stayed in a dorm in Geylang.
A week later, she met her male neighbour from downstairs, who was also a Chinese national. He was between 30 and 40 years old and worked in construction.
As Ms Zhang was planning to move out and look for a new job, she needed a place to store her luggage.
She decided to try asking around and approached the male neighbour, who readily agreed to help. He told her to come downstairs on the morning of March 7 to see how much space she needed.
At 8.30am, Ms Zhang went downstairs to her neighbour's dorm. He told her the door was unlocked and to come in directly.
Upon entering, she was met with a strange sight: a dark room, with the man laying in bed.
He stood up to turn on the light, then pointed to the sofa beside the bed and asked Ms Zhang to sit down.
According to Ms Zhang, the man then said: "You have a very good figure, you can find a partner locally."
She recounted: "Suddenly, he locked the door, came up to me, held my face, kissed me on the lips and dragged me to the bed."
Ms Zhang said she struggled and shouted: "What you are doing is illegal!"
The man let go of her and she took the chance to flee to her room before calling the police.
"When I got back to my dorm, I felt so disgusted and wanted to cry. I immediately brushed my teeth twice," Ms Zhang added.
She also texted the man, asking why he had touched her and wanting an apology. The man replied, 'Sorry' but then immediately withdrew the message.
Ms Zhang said: "I think he did not want to leave any evidence of him admitting what he did."
The police confirmed that they received a report of a person claiming to have been molested. A 48-year-old man was arrested in connection with the case and investigations are ongoing.
