A Woodlands resident called out her neighbour who was burning joss paper at a staircase landing in her block on Feb 12.

The Stomper shared photos and videos of the man with Stomp and expressed concerns over 'indoor pollution'.

According to the Stomper, this happens regularly but this is the first time she has caught the man in action.

"I usually only catch the remnants of smoke after he's finished, but this time I managed to catch him," she said.

In a clip shared by the Stomper, she asks the man: "So you say can ah? Is it allowed?

He replies: "Never mind la, you want to complain, you go complain lor."

In response to a Stomp query, Marsiling-Yew Tee Town Council said it is aware of the incident.

"We would like to share the advice from the Alliance for Action on Norms for Joss Paper Burning to be considerate towards our environment and neighbours when burning offerings," the spokesperson said.

"Joss paper should be burnt at the designated bins and not along common corridors, staircases or at lift lobbies.

"We will continue ongoing efforts to educate and engage residents on this matter.

"We appreciate the cooperation of residents in keeping our shared spaces clean and safe for everyone."

The town council added that residents may contact them for clarifications or assistance.
