Woman who splashed blue paint on door arrested for loanshark activities

A 38-year-old woman was arrested for suspected involvement in loanshark activities.

On Dec 31, 2017, at around 12pm, the police were alerted to a case of loanshark harassment at Block 144 Lorong 2 Toa Payoh.

When officers arrived, the main door and gate of a residential unit were splashed with blue paint and a debtor’s note was found on the floor.

Police officers arrested the woman responsible on Jan 9.

Preliminary investigations also revealed that the woman may be involved in multiple cases of loanshark harassment islandwide.

She will be charged in court on Jan 11.

First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment can be fined between $5,000 to $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years.
