A Kimly Dim Sum customer was shocked to find an insect larva in her porridge.

Stomper Cheryl had ordered the food from the outlet at Block 496 Jurong West Street 41 on the evening of May 29.

"I ordered a century egg porridge without the century egg topping or fried spring onions," she said. Yuck

"I wanted something plain. It consisted of just plain porridge and with some pork slices."

But she was met with an unwanted surprise: "I was shocked to find a worm floating on the porridge when I stirred it from the bottom."

Cheryl shared photos showing a small larva in the food.

In response to a Stomp query, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) spokesperson said it is investigating.

The spokesperson added: "Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.

"Food operators should also ensure that their premises are clean and well-maintained. Members of the public who come across any potentially errant food operator should report to SFA via the online feedback form (www.sfa.gov.sg/feedback).

"SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices.

"As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained."
