Woman so kan cheong to board train and get a seat -- but is there more to the story?
How important is it for you to be the first to get on the train? To this woman, it seems like a big deal.
TikTok user @o0_.kirbz._0o posted a video about "ugly commuters" at Serangoon MRT station on May 9 and captioned it: "Is there a prize or are there prizes to get on the train first?"
In the video, a woman can be seen cutting in front of an older man to enter the train, before quickly sitting down in a priority seat.
She was standing so close to the platform door that her handbag was almost touching the glass.
The video has gone viral, garnering over 536,000 views to date, with the comment section revealing divided opinions on the woman's behaviour.
Some viewers sided with the woman and felt that she was trying to stop the older man from cutting the queue.
The top comment, with over 900 likes, said: "She slayed! It's a common trend nowadays; just because they are elderly they think they have a right to keep on cutting in or standing in the middle of the platform instead of giving way."
But others empathised with the old man.
A user replied to the top comment: "The woman in the video did not seem to be aware of the elderly man. If she did, then it's pretty sick for her to behave like this. If someone did this to your father, would you be happy?"
Some commenters pointed out that the woman had motioned for a young man onher side to enter the train doors before the elderly man.
One user commented: "I think she did the right thing by maintaining order. Nothing wrong here!"
