A woman was upset over the flippant attitude of a food stall staff when she pointed out a cockroach on the food stall signboards.

On April 16 at 11.30am, a Stomper was paying for her food at Zheng Neng Zhu La Mian at Aperia Mall in Kallang.

Suddenly, she spotted a cockroach crawling near the signboards at the cashier counter.

The Stomper quickly alerted a staff member that there was a cockroach nearby, but claims that she did not seem to care.

Half an hour later, the woman returned to the stall to tell another staff member about the insect.

"There's a roach, quickly come outside and see," she told the worker.

"You have to stand outside to be able to see it."

However, the worker went back inside the kitchen.

"I was fed up when she ignored me," the Stomper said.

Following a Stomp query, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said they are looking into the matter.

"Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices."

"Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained. Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form."

"SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices. As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained."
