Woman gets haircut in Bukit Batok void deck: Is this allowed?
Hair today, gone tomorrow?
A resident was unhappy to see a woman getting a haircut in the void deck of Block 358 Bukit Batok Street 31 on Nov 25 at 2.45pm.
Stomper T shared a video of the seated woman covered with a chair cloth at a void deck table as a stylist cut her hair and another woman watched. Hair can be seen falling on the floor during the trim.
"I am very disappointed as they were hairs on the floor and flying around," said the Stomper.
"Construction workers also eat at the place as they are doing upgrading at our block. This haircutting in an open space was inconsiderate."
In response to a Stomp query about the incident, a Choa Chu Kang Town Council spokesperson said it appeared to be an isolated event.
"We have not received any resident feedback on such activities," said the spokesperson.
"We would like to take this opportunity to remind the public and residents that void decks are shared spaces for communal use. They serve as a common thoroughfare for visitors and residents alike.
"Therefore, it's inappropriate to use public areas like these for haircuts. Moreover, uncleared hair clippings are considered litter, which can result in penalties for the offender.
"We hope everyone will exercise consideration and cooperate by keeping our estate clean and pleasant at all times."
