A woman who was fined in 2022 for harassing her neighbour and his family amid the Covid-19 outbreak created a ruckus a year later during her son's lion dance competition.

The woman, who had an ongoing dispute with her adult son over him joining the lion dance troupe, went to an event at West Coast Community Centre in Clementi West Street 2 on July 29, 2023.

While there, among other things, she poured coffee on and kicked the "head" of at least one of the costumes, causing more than $1,300 in damage.

On Feb 3, Lim Sok Lay, 52, pleaded guilty to one count each of committing an act of mischief and using criminal force on another person.

Her husband, Cheang Eng Hock, 60, is also accused of disrupting the competition. He is expected to plead guilty on Feb 21.

The Straits Times reported in July 2023 that at the time of Lim's offence, her 25-year-old son was a performer with Times Cultural Arts and was among those taking part in the competition organised by the Singapore Wushu Dragon and Lion Dance Federation.

In 2023, a spokesman for the federation told ST that Lim and Cheang had tried to stop their son from taking part in the competition after some miscommunication between the three of them.

The Singaporean couple first made the headlines when they harassed their then neighbour, who was a hospital nurse, and his family in 2020.

The pair shouted the words "Covid", "Covid spreader", "virus" and "virus family" at them. Lim also sprayed liquid disinfectant in their direction.

In February 2022, she was fined $4,000 and Cheang was fined $1,200.

In an unrelated case, Lim was at a coffee shop in Edgefield Plains, in Punggol, when she repeatedly pushed a man shortly before 8am on Feb 3, 2023.

She is expected to be sentenced on Feb 26.
