Woman finds mouldy lemon slice in bubble tea, SFA looking into matter
A woman ordered a White Peach Punched Lemon Tea from Bober Tea via GrabFood on July 3.
On closer look at the drink, Stomper Candyse noticed a patch of mould on a lemon slice in the drink.
She recounted: "I ordered a drink via GrabFood from Bober Tea at Compassvale Link, and the tea came with this mould on the lemon."
She said the shop had called to apologise to her.
"I accepted their apology, but informed them I would still proceed to report them to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) as food poisoning could be serious, especially for elderly people if they do not see it.”
In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it is looking into the matter.
SFA said: “Food safety is a joint responsibility. While SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.
“Food operators should also ensure their premises are clean and well-maintained. Members of the public who have concerns about food safety practices by food operators should report to SFA via the online feedback form.
“SFA takes a serious view towards food safety and will investigate all feedback alleging poor food safety practices. As part of the enquiry and gathering of evidence, SFA may engage the feedback provider for more details and will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.”
Stomp has contacted Bober Tea for more information.
