Sentosa makes police report after woman allegedly catches sharks while fishing on island
The Sentosa Development Corporation has made a police report after a woman posted videos purportedly of herself catching small reef sharks on Sentosa.
Stomper Sim alerted Stomp to the videos posted on Xiaohongshu, which have since been removed.
She said the suspected illegal fishing took place on the night of either Sept 21 or 22.
"The location seemed to be a Sentosa pier, according to comments on the post," added the Stomper.
In response to a Stomp query, a spokesperson for Sentosa Development Corporation said: "With reference to the videos of unauthorised fishing purportedly around Sentosa's vicinity, a police report has been made, for further investigations by the relevant authorities.
"Fishing, poaching or any act causing disturbance or harm to wildlife in Sentosa, is strictly prohibited to protect the biodiversity and natural environment of the island, as well as the safety of our guests."
The spokesperson added that if members of the public notice such violations during their visit, they are encouraged to call 1800-RANGERS (1800-726 4377).
