A woman was seen walking along a road divider at Simon Road in the early hours of May 26, startling drivers and passers-by.

Stomper Victoria, who witnessed the incident at about 1.40am, said the woman appeared to be intentionally stepping towards oncoming vehicles.

"She was walking along the divider and trying to jump onto the road when vehicles approached," said Victoria.

"We suspected she was either trying to stage a fake accident or attempting suicide."

Victoria added that another man at the scene appeared to be monitoring the situation.

"He was talking on the phone and walked past the woman, likely updating someone about what was happening."

In clips shared by the Stomper, police officers are at the scene and trying to engage the woman.

She is eventually escorted to a police vehicle.

In response to a Stomp query, the police said they received a call for assistance along Simon Road at about 12.25am.

"A 21-year-old woman was apprehended under Section 7(1) of the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2008," a police spokesperson said.

She was conscious when taken to the hospital.
