Two to be charged for murder of 56-year-old man in fight at Chin Swee Road, knives seized

Two men are expected to be charged on Nov 9 for the murder of a 56-year-old man.

The police said they had received a call for assistance at Block 51 Chin Swee Road on Nov 8 at about 3.10am

When officers arrived, a 56-year-old man was found lying injured outside his flat. He was unconscious when taken to the hospital where he died.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased and three other men were involved in a fight arising from a dispute. During the fight, one of the men allegedly stabbed the victim.

Two knives were recovered and seized by the police.

Two men, aged 58 and 59, who are acquainted with each other, were arrested and will be charged with murder with common intention, which carries the death penalty.

The 59-year-old man was also arrested for drug-related offences, which will be referred to the Central Narcotics Bureau.

The third man, 36, who is a friend of the deceased, was arrested for affray and is assisting with investigations.

Police investigations are ongoing.
