# Tree branch catches fire near Queenstown HDB block, SCDF swiftly puts out blaze

A tree branch caught fire near an HDB block in Queenstown on Oct 22, prompting a response from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).

Stomper Peter alerted Stomp to the incident and shared three videos showing flames on part of a tree near Block 38A Margaret Drive.

In the footage, bright orange flames can be seen burning on a branch several metres above the ground, with residential blocks in the background.

Another clip shows firefighters directing a stream of water towards the burning branch.

Water can be seen spraying across the area as firefighters work to put out the blaze.

In response to a Stomp query, the SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 6.50pm.

“A fire was spotted on a branch of a tree and was extinguished by SCDF using a hose reel and a water jet,” it said.

There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
