Town council working with police, Residents' Network to tackle misuse of Boon Lay playground
A playground at Block 185 Boon Lay Avenue apparently turns into a partying spot every weekend.
A resident posted about the issue in a Facebook group, which Stomper Randy shared with Stomp.
The Aug 17 post alleged that there are "people drinking, vomiting, breaking glass bottles, taking drugs, (and) couples fondling in makeshift canvas" every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
The resident also claimed that this has been "going on for years".
Her post was apparently sparked by an argument she had with "a rowdy group" who reportedly fled when she was about to call the police.
"Take out phone to call 999 all run," she wrote. "Residents take note."
In response to a Stomp query, West Coast-Jurong West Town Council said it is aware of people congregating at the playground.
A spokesperson told Stomp on Aug 22: "The town council is working with the Residents' Network (RN) and the Singapore Police Force (SPF) to engage the workers and advise them on the responsible use of community facilities.
"In addition, we will be putting up notices and banners at the location to remind users against the misuse of facilities, and to reduce potential noise disturbance to nearby residents."
The town council has also stepped up cleaning efforts to ensure the area is well-maintained.
"We understand residents' concerns and thank them for their patience as we work with the relevant agencies towards a sustainable solution," the spokesperson added.
