Town council 'engages' Yishun resident breeding chickens to remove structure in front of block
A resident was rearing chickens in front of Block 289 Yishun Avenue 6.
Stomper Jacq said the resident had been a keeping a number of hens and roosters for "many years" and on Feb 7, shared a video of two small structures that the Stomper said were chicken coops in the common area.
In response to a Stomp query, a Nee Soon Town Council spokesperson said the town council was aware of the breeding of chickens at the block.
"Our officers are proactively engaging with the resident to seek their cooperation to remove the structure," said the spokesperson.
"We are committed to providing any necessary assistance to ensure a smooth resolution.
"The town council is dedicated to maintaining a clean, safe, and harmonious living environment for all our residents."
On Feb 18, the Stomper shared photos to show that one of the two structures was gone.

Answering a question in Parliament in 2022 regarding complaints received pertaining to the noise and smell generated from live chickens in residential areas, the Ministry of National Development said that from 2017 to 2021, agencies and town councils received a total of about 2,400 and 1,700 pieces of feedback about chickens in HDB and private residential estates respectively.
The keeping of poultry in HDB flats is not allowed for public health reasons and to manage disamenities.
