Tampines Mall stall asks Stomper who found cockroach in char siew bun to contact them directly
Tanjong Rhu Pau at Tampines Mall has responded to feedback from a customer who said he found a cockroach embedded in one of his buns.
The customer, Stomper Anonymous, had visited the stall on April 13 and shared his experience with Stomp.
He recounted: "We peeled back the piece of paper below the pau and discovered a cockroach that was embedded in the pau."
Anonymous reported the case to the Singapore Food Agency (SFA), though an inspection did not detect any food safety lapses or pest infestation at the stall.
Stall operator Ms Ye, 47, told Shin Min Daily News that she learnt about the issue from SFA.
She checked the central kitchen and the Tampines stall, but did not find any problems.
"We do cleaning every day, on top of regular deep cleaning and pest control every month. Our staff are also not careless," said Ms Ye in the May 1 report.
She also said that the Stomper did not contact Tanjong Rhu Pau directly and hopes he can do so.
"This way, we will have a clearer understanding of the situation, solve it accordingly and provide an explanation," she added.
