A 30-year-old man will be charged in court on March 14 for allegedly causing public nuisance and using threatening behaviour against a public service worker at Changi Airport.

The police said they were alerted to a dispute involving a private-hire vehicle (PHV) driver and an airport shuttle service driver on Jan 31, at around 2.10pm.

"Investigations revealed that the man, who was upset as the shuttle bus had changed lanes along Airport Boulevard, tailgated the shuttle bus and used his PHV to block the shuttle bus at Terminal 1's Departure Bus Bay," police added.

"The man then exited the vehicle and began taunting and shouting vulgarities at the shuttle bus driver.

"When the shuttle bus driver attempted to drive away, the man allegedly kicked the shuttle bus's front passenger door and threw his mobile phone at it in an aggressive manner."

The man was arrested at the scene.

He will be charged for committing public nuisance, which carries a jail term of up to three months and/or a fine of up to $2,000.

He will also be charged for using threatening behaviour against a public service worker, which carries a jail term of up to 12 months and/or a fine of up to $5,000.

The police said they take a serious view of any form of harassment or threatening behaviours toward public service workers, including those providing transport services for the public.

They added: "Such acts not only disrupt essential services but also cause unnecessary inconvenience to the members of the public. Offenders will be dealt with sternly in accordance with the law."
