A member of the public raised concerns after witnessing a painter disregard his own safety by climbing from a gondola into an HDB corridor.

The resident also accused the worker of urinating in the corridor.

However, the site supervisor denied the resident's allegation of public urination, explaining that the worker had climbed into the corridor simply to go downstairs and get water.

The worker has since been warned for climbing over the parapet.

Mr Qiu, a retiree who lives at Block 848 Jurong West Street 81, told Shin Min Daily News that the incident happened on Feb 8.

The 64-year-old's wife was the first to spot the worker scaling the exterior of the 10th storey to access the corridor, leaving the couple shocked.

She reportedly heard noises near their potted plants and saw the worker climb over. She suspected that the worker had entered the corridor to relieve himself.

Mr Qiu claimed he had on Jan 27 noticed urine stains near the rubbish chute in the corridor.

He added that a painter was seen resting nearby, using his phone. When confronted, the worker denied any involvement.

However, Mr Decha, the painting team's supervisor, firmly denied any claims of urination.

"We've asked the workers, and they have all denied it," the 42-year-old said, adding that a portable toilet was located less than a minute's walk from the worksite.

However, he admitted that a worker had indeed climbed from the gondola into the corridor.

According to Mr Decha, the worker was parched and, with the help of colleagues, climbed into the corridor to go downstairs and get water.

"We've since issued a warning to all workers, reminding them to prioritise safety. This will not happen again."
