A man was shocked that the price of a small packet of jasmine flowers went up to $2 for Chinese New Year.

Stomper Raven said he did not think much of it as first when he bought the flowers from a shop in Bukit Panjang on Feb 7.

"It used to be one packet for 50 cents, later increased to $1 just last year," recalled the Stomper. "In January this year, I bought the flowers for $1.50. That was just one month ago.

"On Feb 7, I was shocked to hear that a small packet of jasmine flower cost you $2. I was very disappointed to see it was enough to buy one kopi-o siew dai."

He bought three packets of flowers.

"It was shocking to hear she said $6. You won't believe it until you buy it there," said the Stomper.

"No joke. It seemed a bit overpriced. Six dollars can almost buy you a good nasi briyani meal for lunch in a restaurant."

He was told that the price went up because of Chinese New Year.

"Imagine if the price goes up to $3 the next time," said the Stomper.

"You can buy yourself a plate of chicken rice."
