A GrabFood user was concerned after she allegedly received a pizza with one slice missing.

Worried about food safety, she contacted the food delivery platform and was left insulted when they offered just a $0.50 refund for her dinner order.

Stomper Shinie had placed an order worth $50.90 from Pezzo’s Bedok Mall outlet at around 7pm on Aug 14. The order included six slices of pizza for $34.20, meaning each slice cost $5.70.

“When I received my food, I noticed that one piece of the pizza was missing,” she recounted. “The problem is, I have no idea what happened to that missing piece.”

Shinie was unsure whether the issue occurred before or during delivery.

“And because I don’t know, I was not comfortable eating the rest of the pizza,” she explained.

“What if the box had been opened and the food had been touched? So I had no choice but to throw the whole pizza away.”

The Stomper said she contacted GrabFood with all photos and proof as requested, but was upset when they merely offered a $0.50 refund.

‘It’s not about the money’

“That’s it. No explanation. No ‘sorry’. Nothing,” she told Stomp.

“Honestly, I don’t even understand what the $0.50 is supposed to be for. I paid $34.20 for a meal that I couldn’t eat because of a possible food safety issue and GrabFood’s response made me feel like they were just throwing 50 cents at me to close the complaint.”

Highlighting that the issue is not about money, Shinie said: “It’s about food safety, trust and how you treat your customers when something goes wrong.

“If my food may have been tampered with, I expect GrabFood to take that seriously and not make me feel like I’m begging for compensation.”

The Stomper said the incident left her “really disappointed”, adding: “Grab made me feel like a beggar.”
