S'pore car allegedly hits woman's elbow in JB and drives off, she chases and confronts driver
A Singapore-registered car is alleged to have accidentally hit the arm of a Singaporean pedestrian in Johor Bahru on Jan 5.
Stomper Hello, who was the pedestrian, said it happened near the KSL City mall.
She and her family had gone to JB in her brother's car. After leaving their vehicle at a car wash, the family walked towards a nearby pasar malam at about 6.50pm.
Stomper Herman, who is Hello's brother, recounted: "This Singapore car, a grey Hyundai Elantra, banged into my sister on her right elbow with its side mirror at quite a fast speed.
"My sister twisted and swerved to her left side while I was screaming behind her. The driver almost drove past her legs too. At the time, my sister was holding and walking with my niece.
"The driver simply sped off without checking on her," he said, adding that the car stopped only when it reached a traffic light about two shop units away.
Hello continued: "I then chased the car and saw it had to stop at the traffic light in front. I went up and signalled to the driver to wind down the windows to speak to him.
"The driver wound down windows, telling me in Chinese, 'You came and touched my car yourself,' and sped off again.
She also noticed a woman seated in the front passenger seat, who covered her face with her hands, seemingly afraid that Hello might take a video of the encounter.
Hello said her son took a photo of the car driving away.

The Stomper then rushed back to Singapore to see a doctor at a hospital and make a police report.
Photos show bruising on her arm and leg.

She added: "I never imagined that a Singaporean driver could have such reckless behaviour overseas. If the Singapore police let these people off easily, then I can't imagine how many people are like this on the road."
