Spider-Man in Tampines?

Stomper Victor was startled to see a worker suspended by ropes while painting the facade of Block 221 Tampines Street 21 on Aug 13.

He shared photos of the man dangling from the top of the block and said he looked like 'Spider-Man'.

"I felt it was a very dangerous thing to do," he said.

In response to a Stomp query, Tampines Town Council assured that strict safety protocols had been followed for the works.

A spokesperson said: "We take workplace safety very seriously and before any rope access works are carried out, proposed methods are carefully studied and assessed by qualified professionals to ensure they meet all safety standards.

"This same strict practice was applied to this project. Due to site constraints, rope access was the most suitable method for the job.

"A qualified contractor was engaged. The anchoring system was professionally designed and certified by a structural engineer, with strong anchor bolts securely fixed into the building's concrete structure to ensure workers' safety.

"Safety checks were conducted before work commenced, and the task was carried out only by trained personnel."

The town council thanked the resident for his concern and added: "Safety is always our top priority, and our team conducts strict checks to safeguard the well-being of both contractors and employees.

"Residents who notice anything unusual are welcome to reach out to us via our hotline or email so that we can attend to their concerns promptly."
