Slide at Ang Mo Kio playground assessed to be safe after Stomper worries it might hurt kids
A slide at a playground in Ang Mo Kio has been assessed and confirmed to be safe following feedback over its uneven surface.
Stomper Albert had expressed safety concerns about the slide at Block 308C Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 and shared photos of it.
He told Stomp on Dec 12: "The slide is not safe for children because they might hurt their spines due to its uneven joints. Slides should have smooth surfaces as kids gradually slide down.
"Ang Mo Kio Town Council (AMKTC) acknowledged on Sept 14 my feedback via OneService platform and said they are working on it, but there has been no update till now.
"I hope the town council addresses my concerns before some kid gets hurt."
Responding to a Stomp query, a spokesman for AMKTC said the town council is aware of the resident's safety concerns.
"Upon receiving his feedback, we promptly reached out to our contractor to conduct a safety inspection of the slide to ensure that it complies with public playground safety standards," the spokesman added.
"Our contractor has conducted the necessary assessment and confirmed that the slide is safe for use by children aged between two and five years old.
"The safety of our residents is our top priority, and we would like to assure residents that we will continue to monitor the playground to ensure they are safe for use."
