Singaporean woman terrified as Grab driver watches movie while driving in Johor Bahru
A Singaporean woman feared for her life when she realised a Grab driver was watching a movie while driving in Johor Bahru, Malaysia on Nov 12.
Stomper C shared with Stomp that she booked a Grab ride from Taman Molek to AEON Mall Tebrau City at about 3.20pm.
"He blasted the music loudly after he started driving," she said.
"As I was seated behind him, I couldn't see what he was doing but decided to take a closer look.
"To my horror, I saw the driver was watching a movie on another device while driving.
"This is absolutely unacceptable."
She stated that such reckless and irresponsible behaviour jeopardised her safety as a passenger and the safety of other road users.
"I did not feel safe to confront the driver directly as I was alone and concerned for my own safety but I have reported this to Grab Malaysia," she said.
"I hope they revoke his licence."
Those who use their phones while operating a vehicle in Malaysia can be fined up to RM1,000 ($300) or face up to three months' jail.
