Shopee buyer returns robot vacuum that caused daughter to fall, has trouble getting $1,827 refund
A father ordered a new vacuum cleaner for $1,826.90 from Shopee, but it allegedly caused his three-year-old daughter to fall at least three times.
So Stomper Anonymous returned the product for a refund - only to be informed his request for a refund had been rejected.
"I'm sharing my story as both a warning and a question for the growing community of smart homeowners," said the Stomper.
"I bought a top-end Roborock Saros Z70 robot vacuum in April, hoping to make life easier for my family.
"Instead, the device left my floors dangerously wet. My daughter slipped and fell, and my elderly mother-in-law was nearly hurt."
On July 13, his daughter had a fall so serious that she required medical attention.
On the same day, he requested to return the vacuum via Shopee.
"I followed all instructions, and the item was collected by their courier," recounted the Stomper.
"Shockingly, Shopee later rejected my refund, saying the seller hadn't received the machine and had provided 'stronger evidence'."

The Stomper contacted the seller, who messaged back: "It appears that your return process was handled via Shopee directly. We kindly suggest reaching out to Shopee customer service for further assistance on this matter."
Which the Stomper already did.
He told Stomp on Sept 16: "Now I'm left with neither my money nor my robot vacuum, despite proof of collection and dozens of screenshots and messages."
In response to a Stomp query, a Shopee spokesperson said on Sept 23: "We understand that the buyer and seller have been in contact and resolved the matter directly with the buyer receiving a full refund."
The Stomper acknowledged the matter has been resolved.
He said: "The seller directly contacted me after I sent a final warning email to them.
"But Shopee really made me sick and totally lost confidence in their customer service. It was total hell when dealing with them.
"Anyway, the seller has agreed to the refund and Shopee is processing it now."
