Shopee buyer orders wrong phone case by mistake, asks for refund or exchange but gets insults instead
Was it deserved?
A Shopee buyer ordered a wrong phone case by mistake and asked the seller for a refund or exchange, but got insults instead.
Stomper Zac, who is a friend of the buyer's, said his friend "accidentally" ordered the wrong item.
"While trying to ask if a refund or exchange was possible, the seller sent a wall of rude messages scolding my friend, even insulting their mother," said the Stomper, who shared a screenshot of the messages, which appeared to be translated from Chinese.
The messages said:
- "You should check your model number before buying."
- "People with no quality."
- "Wasting our time and money."
- "If you have a brain problem, you should go to the hospital."
- "Say your mother."
One message, "sand coins", is translated from a Chinese homonym for "idiot".
The Stomper said the seller subsequently blocked his friend's account.
Zac felt his friend did not deserve such denigration.
"Granted, it was a mistake on my friend's part, but to be attacked so viciously was truly uncalled for," he said.
A spokesperson for Shopee told Stomp that the e-commerce platform it has since taken disciplinary action against the seller.
"We view the incident seriously," said the spokesperson
"Sellers are required to conduct themselves professionally, and sending rude and/or abusive messages is a violation of our Shopee seller chat policies."
The spokesperson added that Shopee has also refunded the buyer.
