Shocking moment for cyclist, child and driver after near-accident at Seraya Road
A man and a young child were nearly hit by a car after falling off a bicycle outside Tanjong Katong Primary School on April 1.
Stomper Concerned Bystander shared a video of the incident at Seraya Road with Stomp and said she wanted to raise awareness about road safety.
The video was taken at about 1.35pm and showed the man and boy falling onto the road shortly after taking off. An oncoming black SUV swerves to avoid them.
"I don't want to shame or embarrass the father but this is a reminder for all cyclists and their pillions to please always use a helmet," the Stomper said.
"Also, it's important to be safe when riding on pavements, especially if you are ferrying children."
She added that the man and child were 'extremely lucky' that the driver of the black SUV was alert and kept a safe distance from the get-go.
"Otherwise, this could have ended very badly for both the cyclist and his child," she said.
"Just like seatbelts in a car, helmets for cycling are a must, no matter how short the ride may be."
