Is it the same bird?

An oriental pied hornbill apparently paid not one but two visits to a Serangoon North Avenue 1 resident in a single week.

Stomper Kelly was up at 7.30am on March 24 cooking in the kitchen when she spotted the bird resting on her laundry rack outside her window.

At first, she was startled and quickly closed the window to prevent the hornbill from entering the kitchen.

"I quickly took a photo of it and showed it to my family and friends," said the Stomper, who lives on the 11th storey.

"I felt so happy and lucky to see this big bird. It didn't make any sound while standing on the bar."

The encounter did not last long as after five minutes, the visitor flew away.

To her surprise and delight, the hornbill returned for another visit at the same spot four days later.

"This bird was here at 7.30am again," said the Stomper, who shared videos of both visits by her new feathered friend.

Hornbills are found throughout Asia and in Africa, but the oriental pied hornbill is native here and is known for its trademark casque, a yellowish-white structure on its bill.
