SCDF to commend 'superheroes' who tried to put out Woodlands dumpster fire before SCDF's arrival

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will be reaching out to the members of the public who helped to fight a Woodlands dumpster fire on Sept 1 afternoon.

Several videos of the fire were posted online

In response to a Stomp query, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire near Block 870 Woodlands Street 81 at about 4:30pm.

The fire, involving combustible materials in a skip bin, was extinguished using two water jets.

Two people were assessed for minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital.

SCDF told Stomp that it understands that some members of the public had attempted to put out the fire before firefighters' arrival.

In one of the videos, the members of the public were referred to as "superheroes".

SCDF will be reaching out to commend them for their public-spirited acts.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
