A bus captain is under investigation after running a red light in Tampines in the early hours of June 8.

Stomper Rohaizat alerted Stomp to the incident, which took place along Tampines Street 11 at about 12.55am.

The bus involved was an SBS Transit service 18 vehicle.

Sharing dashcam footage, Rohaizat expressed concern over the bus captain's driving.

"No matter what, if you drive public transport, you must always prioritise your safety and the safety of the public," he said.

"This kind of behaviour causes danger to others.

"Running a red light is not a small issue.

"As a public bus driver, you're carrying the image of Singapore to both locals and foreigners."

In response to a Stomp query, SBS Transit spokesperson Mrs Grace Wu said: "We have looked into the incident and do not condone the driving behaviour of this bus captain.

"We take a very serious view of it and are taking disciplinary action against him to avoid a recurrence of the incident."
